Atlanta weekend!

Last weekend, we took a road trip up to Atlanta to visit my fave cousin and her family.  I was a little worried about the 7-8 hour drive with Bear Cub (it's been a long time since we've done a LONG drive like that), but it was GREAT.  Thank goodness for technology!  That kept him fairly entertained along with a few books, too.  We had perfect driving weather and nice weather there, too!  Only one late afternoon/evening thunderstorm.  We went to a park, had a great Mexican meal out, and on Saturday, visited Stone Mountain.  Lots of fun!!  The kids got along well and BC cried as we pulled away from their house on Sunday...he really does like to have little playmates around!  I guess Mom and Dad do get a little boring after awhile...  Enjoy the pictures!!

Playtime at the park before dinner on Friday ... aren't these 2 just the cutest!?!?

Electronic devices can come in SO handy when you want to have a leisurely dinner!

 Ice cream after dinner!
Up top of Stone Mountain...the boys checked out every puddle up there, looking for tiny little water creatures

BC was not in a picture-taking mood ... but there he is, in front of Stone Mtn.

We got photo bombed by a creepy guy in the background!  LOL!  Where in the heck did he come from!!?

Gone fishin'!

Hi!  Here are some pictures from this morning's fishing trip to a neighborhood pond.  Success!  He caught at least 7, but I eventually quit counting.  He loves it!

These were taken on my new camera that I got yesterday...I was fooling with some settings to just "play."  I wimped out of my original idea of getting a DSLR camera and went with my safe and familiar (yet totally updated in the last 6 years!) Canon point and shoot.  I think it is going to take some nice pictures!  Enjoy!  :)

Our birthday boy!! 7 years old!

Hi!  We are having a fabulous summer so far!  I will definitely go back and post pictures from June, but today's post is in honor of the birthday boy!  Our Bear Cub turned 7 today!  How in the world can that be!!??!  Honestly...7 seems so much older than 6.  Although I do think I say that with every new age each July...

Saturday we had a big birthday bash at one of our community clubhouses and splash pool.  A lot of BC's friends from school were able to come (yay!) and we had our awesome family there, too.  We've had so much rain here lately, so I was a bit nervous about the weather, but it turned out AWESOME.  It was a Monsters University themed party and the kids really seemed to have a fun day.  We started off in the clubhouse room with lunch and snacks and also Monsters Inc. playing on a big TV.  Thank GOODNESS for that or else the kids might have gone wild!  After pizza, BC opened gifts and then it was out to splash and play.  We seemed to have the whole pool to ourselves, which was another great surprise.  What a day!  My BFF from forever and her 2 boys came down from Jacksonville, so after the party, we got to keep on partying with a slumber party!  The boys (and grown-ups, too) were up until 11:30, watching a movie upstairs.  Phew!  What a night, too!  :)  Great fun!

For his "real" birthday, which was today, BC wanted a totally "fish" themed day.  He has turned his interest from snakes to fish.  Can I get a BOOYAH!  on that!?!?  It was time to move on.  Ask me in a year how I feel about fish, and I'll probably want to scream, but for now, this is a VERY pleasant and welcome change!

So, our day went like this:

1.  Wake up and quickly open presents and eat too many donuts
2.  Get dressed, grab the fishing pole, and head to a neighborhood pond
3.  Catch 4 fish and head home
4.  Change clothes, back in the car, and off to BC's choice of lunch...Long John Silvers.  Oh yes...he's SO into eating fish and shrimp now, too!  Who is this kid!?!?
5.  After lunch, on to the aquarium!  Where else would we go for our fish day?
6.  Back home, have dinner...he gets grilled grouper!  Then on to the pool with Daddy Bear and back home again for his fishing-decorated cake.
7.  BEDTIME...after reading his new ocean & sea book...and snuggling his new GIANT shark stuffed animal, he is OUT in a matter of minutes.  Sleepy little fish!

How was that for a fishy day??  I'd say we did pretty darn good!  Now I need to sleep for a week.  Ha, ha!

It has been a fantastic several-day celebration of our special boy's birthday.  I wonder what he'll be into next year?  Whatever it is...it will be a day filled with adventure, no matter what!  You can always count on that with our Bear Cub!!  :)
