Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Bear Cub had a great Halloween this year and did awesome with trick-or-treating!  We were SO proud of him...going up to the doors on his own, saying "Trick or treat!" nice and loudly and remembering to say "Thank you!" as he left the door (well, most of the time!).   Gone are the days when he would try to enter someone's house, poke through every nook and cranny of the peoples' porches, and dig through bowls of candy until he finds what he wants.  YAY for Bear Cub!  He's growing up and having more fun because of it!  LOL!  :)  He got a lot of loot, ate way too much candy, stayed up too late....but you know what?  Who cares?!!?  It was Halloween and it was F-U-N!  :)

Enjoy the pics of our cute little gator boy!  He got lots of comments on his costume... and for me, you just can't beat these homemade costumes that we (somehow) manage to create.  He's an original, that Bear Cub of mine!

This was his "Halloween Smile" -- LOL!  This picture cracks me up!
For a kid who loves worms, slime, frogs, and toads...he was not digging the pumpkin goo!

 The alligator!!  :)
Oh yea...I'm real proud of how cute his tail turned out!  :)

Not only was he a great trick-or-treater...but also a great candy passer-outer!  Miss Zoe got a lot of love and attention from the trick-or-treaters, too.  :)

It's Fall, Ya'll!

Hi there!  Wow...what a busy week we had!  Busy for me at work, dentist appointment for BC (no cavitities...but NO FUN when taking him to the dentist...argh!) and just LIFE.  I am so glad it's the weekend!

Have I mentioned that Bear Cub stays after school for a special phonics program since he is ready to start reading?  Well...no longer is he READY to start...he IS reading!  We are so proud of him!  Twice this week he has brought home little sight word readers and has read to US at night.  It is the cutest thing..he uses great expression with his reading voice and does awesome with sounding words out.  I'll try to get a video of it so you all can hear.  :)  He's one smart cookie!  Books have ALWAYS been a love for him and for that...I am so thankful!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and a Happy Halloween on Monday!  I have to put some finishing touches on BC's costume and we need to carve our pumpkin...but we will be ready for trick-or-treating by Monday!  :)

This gorgeous Fall display was arranged by Bear Cub himself!  Very Southern Living, if you ask me!
I made this apple pie for Aunt J's birthday celebration last weekend...it tasted as good as it looked! I was very proud!  :)
 Gorgeous gals of the family

Ready to head into his Fall Festival on Wednesday night at school!  Yes...he is an alligator...and the costume will be complete with tail and gator feet by Monday!  Or that's my goal, anyway!  :)

Bear Cub with his teacher, Miss Dusty.  She is awesome and we love her...and the best part of it? She loves him, too.  :)
In line for a pumpkin toss game
Getting his hair spray painted...he chose ORANGE and BLUE all on his own.  Go Gators!!
Checking it out...pretty cool!  Even cooler when it turned the bath water orange that night!

Finished his first 100 piece puzzle!  :)
On the run last weekend at a local park...we walked the trail and it was so fun!

October!!

Wow, wow, wow!  I can't believe it's October!  It is feeling like Fall around here and we are loving it!  Ok...it still gets hot during the day, but there is less humidity and just a general change in the air.  It's actually...PLEASANT!  :)

We had a great weekend last week...and unfortunately, I have ZERO pictures to prove it!  We celebrated Grandma's birthday on Saturday with all-day fun at an awesome pool where BC played the entire and made little friends galore.  It was actually RELAXING for Daddy and me!  Then, on Sunday, we went to Mimi's for a big 'ol family lunch/reunion.  It was great to be with family that we haven't seen for a while...especially my aunt and cousin from  Boston!  It's crazy because I haven't seen my cousin since I was NINE years old...but it honestly feels like I've seen her just because of some emails throughout the years and her faithful blog postings.  Thanks, cousin D!!  :)   It WILL be less than 24 years before the next time we see each other!  LOL!

Well, I haven't been taking too many pictures lately, but here are a few.  BC has been doing well at school and has really begun to ENJOY drawing...it's a wonderful thing!  Have a great weekend ahead...we're looking forward to a low-key, relaxing couple of days.  No plans = a great thing!!

BC drew this adorable picture of Zoe for school.  I love how her tail is coming out of her head.  :)

While I work...what does Bear Cub do?

(Read his sign from the bottom up)
"Good Lizard Hunter Westie"  - yup, that's Zoe!

He turns Zoe in to an officially "labeled" lizard hunter.  He did the writing himself...he just asked me for the spelling as he was sounding it out.  He's got some crazy ideas!  Thank goodness Zoe is so tolerant!

Happy weekend to all!

Just a sweet (and very true!) quote that I found!

"By adopting a child and helping them reach their potential, they help us reach ours. An adopted child is not an unwanted child; to the contrary. They are a child who was searched for, prayed for, cried for, begged for; received by arms that ached, making empty hearts full. Love is meant to be shared." - Author unknown

I love, love, love my boy!!

Fun pics

On Labor Day we headed up to my aunt and uncle's awesome house on the water for a family lunch.  Bear Cub had a blast trying to collect crabs in the big bucket and just poking around by the dock.  We had great food and there was even better COMPANY.  :)  Fun weekend!
